Dr. David Gilbert is a board certified ophthalmologist and has completed glaucoma fellowship training at Stanford University. He is a native of California and grew up in the east bay.He graduated from University of California, Davis and has a masters degree in biomedical engineering. He received his medical degree from Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He stayed at Wake Forest for his ophthalmology residency and served as co-chief resident during his final year. 

Dr. Gilbert received the Bryan Sloan Memorial Research Award twice during his residency for his publications on glaucoma surgical advances.After residency, Dr. Gilbert returned west to complete glaucoma fellowship training at Stanford University and was on the clinical staff during that time. He has authored several papers and given numerous lectures related to glaucoma care. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, a member of the California Association of Ophthalmology, and the California Medical Association. As a subspecialist, Dr. Gilbert has expertise in both medical and surgical management of glaucoma. His clinical interests also include cataract surgery performing no injection, sutureless surgery.

David and his wife, Laura, have two young children. They currently reside in Danville and are happy to be living by family and long time friends.
